Dry Skin, what causes them?

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

I noticed dry patches on my face especially at the side of both cheeks few weeks ago. With that I soak it with hydration mask and put think moisturizer and Vitamin E cream that I bought during the cold weather in California. It helps for a day and get dry again.

Here are top 5 skin drying factors according to my favorite magazine:

1.      Using overly harsh products such as abrasive exfoliation which can strip lipids off the skin.

2.      Using too many products. Different ingredients from varying beauty lines can cancel each other out or irritate skin.

3.      Cleaning too often which pull all the oil off the skin and keeps it pliable and protected from bacteria.

4.      Air conditioned office – extreme temperature change from in office to hot air weather weakens the cell’s ability to retain moisture!

5.      Not adjusting for cold weather when travel – not adjusting our skincare according to the different temperature countries.

Live Cultures?

I love eating yogurt and sometimes I drink yogurt drink as well as cultured drink. Is it good for me apart from the lovely taste and smooth yogurt texture that I like?

-        Decrease rate of acute diarrhoea and rotavirus shedding

-        Improve lactose intolerance

-
Improve constipation among elderly

-
Promotes growth of healthy bacteria  in the colons and reduces the conversion of bile into carcinogens

-
Enhance immunity by regulating lymphocytes and antibodies~!

Time Flies~!

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

Have you ever noticed that if you do not monitor the date/day, it creeps very fast without you realizing it? Yes, in just a whoosh, it’s already Sept 2008 and ending of it!

Man, I thought 2009 has just arrived the day before and now it’s already end of the year without having me doing a lot of stuffs and appreciating the days. And so my age climb steadily and the time flies really so fast, I don’t know what it is chasing after. Christmas, again?

I wonder if I take one day at a time, will it still pass me by so speedily and greedily?  I read that time seems to pass faster when we fall into everyday routine and doing nothing new. Maybe that’s true and well, I don’t know how to stop it.

Time ain’t waiting for no one..

Dec~

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

Naturally December is the month which most people have higher expenses; spurlging on fancy a nordictrac gifts, foods, decorations & travel during the festive season. The gifts are inevitable, especially if you are well-loved; so to say.

Not to mention all the annual fees for insurance, road tax, medical checkup which normally occur at this time of the year.

But also a month where you work much lesser compared to other months. And time flies. So fast.
And next week, 2009 ends.. and I felt that it has just begun not so long ago..

Papaya Goodness!

Monday, December 21st, 2009

I am not a big fan of fruit that is soft like banana and papaya. But I know they are one of the most nutritious fruits around and I should consume them every now and them at least for the benefit it brings to my body. Take example the orange or red papaya fruit.

The benefit of consuming papaya including :

-        It is rich in Vitamin A, B, C and D, calcium, phosphorous, calcium and iron.

-
Cleans the digestive organ

-
Papayas are also diuretic, laxative and refreshing

-        Maintain the balance of acid-alkaline in our body

With so much goodness, I hope I can take it at least 2 times in a month!

Travelling Tips~

Friday, December 18th, 2009

A trip success is not fully on the destination chose but the most important thing is the participants. I realized that after I joined a few trips which suppose to be good one but wasn’t as fantastic due to the people that went with me.

I realized no matter where you for a holiday, as long as you have people at the same frequency as you, you could have fun. It is more of the people than the place when you are having a holiday. Of course the destination must be attractive to you at the first place!

Although spontaneous trip could be fun but nothing beats planned and well researched information about the destination. Else it might turn up to be a disaster when everyone has different expectation and ideas of fun.

So, plan your trip well. And choose your travel mate carefully. Have fun!

Green Apple~!

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

“Take more apples if you do not like oats”, said the health consultant.

And well, I used to take them weekly but then I switched to orange as it makes me less full after dinner comparing to apple.  But yesterday I bought some green apples and tried to get rid of the wax at the skin as I do not want to peel off the skin which contains a lot of vitamins.

The health benefit and goodness of green apple includes containing both insoluble and soluble fibre that can lower cholesterol levels and prevent heart diseases.

Apple also contains flavonoids and vitamin A, C, E and many other mineral~!

Hi, Stranger~

Sunday, December 13th, 2009

One of the fastest ways to get to know a stranger is through a trip or holiday with them.

I have known quite many new friends through travelling together. They are either my excolleagues which I have barely spoken to, some friends of my friends or perhaps stranger in the same tour group.

It might be a little awkward at the first day of the trip but after a couple of days, we start to share our experience, making decision or enjoying the trip together and lead to more conversation.

It is certainly a good way to get to know people or to see their true colour too!

Cherry Tomato Benefit/Goodness~!

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

Another all time favourite of mine is cherry tomato. I don’t know if I like the taste or the crunchiness of it or simply because it is orange red in colour which means full of beta carotene, Vitamin A!

Yes, I like all orange or red colour fruit simply as I want to maintain good eyesight. It is one of my senses that I appreciate most and I want to take the best care of it.

So what is so good about cherry tomato beside it is easy to eat, meaning you do not have to peel or cut them. Simply pop them into the mouth! =)

They are packed with Vitamin A and C and lycopene which can help to prevent cancer, heart disease, high cholesterol and others~

Theft!

Monday, December 7th, 2009

A panic mode has crept into the residents of my friend’s flat. It seems that for the past few nights, several residents’ cars has been stolen!

Gosh, we always known that the security wasn’t that good in that area but so far, nothing this serious had happened. It was an alarming case and meeting was conducted yesterday.

Many suggestions and ideas were discussed, including getting a guard and implementing wireless security systems. Maybe getting a gate surrounding the flat would be much more helpful!
