Papaya Goodness!

Monday, December 21st, 2009

I am not a big fan of fruit that is soft like banana and papaya. But I know they are one of the most nutritious fruits around and I should consume them every now and them at least for the benefit it brings to my body. Take example the orange or red papaya fruit.

The benefit of consuming papaya including :

-        It is rich in Vitamin A, B, C and D, calcium, phosphorous, calcium and iron.

-
Cleans the digestive organ

-
Papayas are also diuretic, laxative and refreshing

-        Maintain the balance of acid-alkaline in our body

With so much goodness, I hope I can take it at least 2 times in a month!

Green Apple~!

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

“Take more apples if you do not like oats”, said the health consultant.

And well, I used to take them weekly but then I switched to orange as it makes me less full after dinner comparing to apple.  But yesterday I bought some green apples and tried to get rid of the wax at the skin as I do not want to peel off the skin which contains a lot of vitamins.

The health benefit and goodness of green apple includes containing both insoluble and soluble fibre that can lower cholesterol levels and prevent heart diseases.

Apple also contains flavonoids and vitamin A, C, E and many other mineral~!

Cherry Tomato Benefit/Goodness~!

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

Another all time favourite of mine is cherry tomato. I don’t know if I like the taste or the crunchiness of it or simply because it is orange red in colour which means full of beta carotene, Vitamin A!

Yes, I like all orange or red colour fruit simply as I want to maintain good eyesight. It is one of my senses that I appreciate most and I want to take the best care of it.

So what is so good about cherry tomato beside it is easy to eat, meaning you do not have to peel or cut them. Simply pop them into the mouth! =)

They are packed with Vitamin A and C and lycopene which can help to prevent cancer, heart disease, high cholesterol and others~

Wholemeal bread~

Sunday, November 15th, 2009

I have been taking wholemeal bread for more than a year for approximately 3 days a week for my breakfast. I remember taking breads everyday when I was studying in primary and secondary school and it was a routine, not something that I like to eat.

But now I am taking it due to its goodness and so that I won’t take other bad breakfast such as the oily curry puff or the high-cholesterol-laden nasi lemak!

Now that another housemate of mine also wants to eat it for breakfast, I share with her for another 2 days which make 5 days of wholemeal breads in a week! Well, I sure hope I can swallow it all as long as possible. =)

Dark Chocolate Benefit~

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

When I was younger, I simply like junk food and all the food that is not good for my body and health. I also love to indulge into chocolates.

However, now I realised that I am losing my sweet tooth. I only like it someday and I would only consume a little to satisfy my craving. But I read that dark chocolate is good for our health as it contains flavonoids, an antioxidants that help to fight free radical in our body, which could cause cancer. Besides, dark chocolate also has fewer calories than normal chocolate.

On top of that, dark chocolate contains good cholesterol and has the feel-good-hormones that makes you feel happier. So, do feel guiltless to dig in some dark chocolate~!

Variety Way to Make Oat~!

Monday, November 9th, 2009

My colleague told me that I should have taken more oats as I have cholesterol problem. Yes, I do buy them but I rarely eat them as I find the taste rather bland and I do not like the thick texture of it.

She told me that there is many ways that I could cook my oat so it is easier for me to eat it and taste nicer too.For instant, adding more water to it, I could get oat porridge, replacing my rice porridge!I could also add variety of other food to it to make it more exciting such as-        peanut butter and banana

-        Bovril -        Chicken (as in chicken porridge!)

-        Honey, jam

-        FruitsIhope I can try some of it and take my oats more frequently.

Twice a week will be good for me~! A rarely target.. Not even once a month now! Ooppsss..

Fish Goodness!

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

Today for my lunch, I ordered fish again although I have little confidence on the fish that they might prepare. Last week, I simply hate the small fried fish that has strong fishy smell and I practically have to force myself swallow it down my throat.

Why do I order it again today?  Eating fish does bring a lot of benefit to our health and body. And that’s the least I can do for myself as I have very low intake of vegetables and I couldn’t do much about it. Eating fish twice weekly will significantly reduce the death rate of heart disease by 36% and the overall mortality rate was 17% lower according to Harvard study.

The omega 3 fatty acid found in fish promotes healthy vision and brain development for babies in the tummy. Apart from that it also protect against diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer and mental disorder including depression.

To eat or to juice?

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

I read in an article today that it is more beneficial to drink fruit or vegetable juice than to eat the fruit or vegetable on its own!
The reason is that when you drink the juice, all the enzymes and nutrients are easily absorbed into your body system.

However, your body needs to digest all the fruits and vegetables that you eat. And sometimes the nutrients and enzymes are not fully absorbed!

Except for its fibre, it is better to drink the fruit or vegetable juice!

Broccoli Juices

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

Every week during the night market, I am always tempted to buy broccoli. But the thing is I am not really into greens and the reason I am obligated to buy is because broccoli is very good for our body!

Silly as it sounds; I still buy it even though I know I couldn’t finish the whole broccoli in a week! Sometimes it goes to the rubbish bin when it turns yellow and bad. But hey, guess what? I found that I can make broccoli juice out of it!Yes, after some googling, I found out that it is ok to juice broccoli and it is still very beneficial for the body.

Yeah, so today for the first time I tried making my broccoli juices. I added some carrot and green apple so that the juice doesn’t smell too strong of a broccoli.

The taste? Acceptable! The most important thing is I can finish my broccoli in a few gulps! =D
