Makeup Magic

Every day, I put on the minimal makeup before going to work. I start with cleansing, toning and moisturizing. After that I use concealer for my eyes which always work to makes me look less tired. Apart from minimal blusher and face powder, I do not use anything else.

The thing is I didn’t quite like heavy make up is I am worried what it will do to my skin. That is until I found out about Cleopatras Choice cosmetics, a good recommendation from my friend.The mineral foundation seems to make my skin looks flawless and it is very light! I shall try the other products and hopefully they are also kind to my skin.

All it takes a little make up magic to look fresh and beautiful again!

Special Gifts

I think it is so easy to buy a gift for a woman. You can get anything glittering for the hands, necks or ears. Or else there are the shoes, bags, clothes or flowers. All these usually brings smile to a woman’s face when it comes from the loved ones. But my colleague couldn’t think of a suitable gift; he is asking everyone ideas for unique anniversary gifts for wife. And well, according to him, his wife is very picky. And it doesn’t help that it is the 5^th year’s anniversary and he has given her almost all type of gifts over the years for birthday, anniversary and Christmas.Good luck to him!

Storage Evolution

Once upon a time, when I was still a teenager, I used to have many cassettes tapes for the songs and video tape for movies. It is quite bulky and very space consuming. I have two big drawers just to store all of them.

Then I was glad that we moved to the era of CDs and DVDs. All I need are a couple of cd racks for storage. And somehow, I wasn’t really fancying the dust that it collects on my CD/DVDs. I moved them back to the drawers.

And now, all I need is external hard disk to store the songs and movies. Ahh.. how things have changed over the years.

Dreamy Porch Swings

For all the things that I couldn’t have in my current tiny apartment, I wish to have it in my brother’s new house. Well, he hasn’t bought one yet but I think he is thinking to get a house.

And one of the things that I shall get for him is a rustic porch swing. Not those steel type but one of those wooden classic one. Probably a 5 feet swing that fits in 2 to 3 people at a time.

I could imagine sitting there during early evening with a cool lemonade while reading a novel. How wonderful is that! One of my many little dreams!

Hot Tub!

I wish I have a hot tub in the house. But all I have for both bathrooms are only showers with shower screens. Though I prefer to take shower on daily basis, I really would love to have a good soak during the weekend.

I’ve been thinking whether I could afford to change a shower to tub. My worry is if I have enough space to put it with a hot tub spa covers on my not-very-large-bathroom.That is one of the thing that I didn’t really put into consideration when I bought this house.

Another mental note/checklist for my next house!

Swimming Pools Maintenance

Every time I stepped into the swimming pool at my condominium, I always wondered if the water is cleaned and how long has it been since they changed the water.

My colleague asked me to smell the chlorine and see if the smell is strong. It usually didn’t have very strong chlorine smell like the public swimming pool. Is it a good indication?I hope they take good care of the pools as it is for the residents only. It may cost more for maintenance but I think we could have saved on the discount pool parts if they did a survey of prices before replacing them.

It is good not to have to go to those dirty public swimming pools with many swimmers a day.

Easter Parties

What do you do with the party or festive supplies when it is over? Supposing if you buy too many of them or over estimate the needs when you prepare them?

Well, for example now that the Easter is over, I have ‘leftover’ of Easter decorations for parties. I am always overexcited and bought the stuff too much than I should. It is hard to resist cute and lovely party decorations.I am thinking that I could save them and store them for next year. But the thing is I don’t think I am up to having another party next year.

It just is too much work, preparation and cleaning up before and after it. Anyone is up for it?

In the Office

I didn’t know that we could ask for almost anything in the office as long as it is business related from the receptionist.

My colleague Grace, told me that we could request for any business supplies and as long as it is reasonable, the company will get it for you.In my previous company, they only give you the very basic of stationary and stuffs. I usually get the other stuff that I need on my own. It is easier than arguing and justifying why you need a piece of something sometimes.

It is good to know that this company is so generous and thoughtful. Well, as long as you are not abusing your right!

Wiring Renovation

One of the things I always observe when I visit another people’s house is the wiring and the switches. I love those who do built-in-wiring and couldn’t really stand those add-on-wiring. I think it looks pretty nasty to have those extra wiring to be on the wall exterior.

I didn’t realize it during my renovation but luckily I did invest on the built-in wiring for the whole house. And I also changed all the switches in the house. My only regret is not getting the lovely porcelain switch plates for my kitchen which has tiles on the wall.

Well, I should remember it for idea for my next house; if there is going to be a next one!

DIY - Tint & Seal

My master bedroom is the warmest room of all the rooms in my house. In the evening the sun will set at this direction and the room gets direct sunlight.

It makes the room very stuffy and warm in the evening and early night. To prevent the heat, I’ve tried to tint the window. It is a DIY project and the only DIY I did on this house. It is rather easy to do as you need very few tools and minimum skill. I think it looks pretty ok.

DIY has saved me a lot of money as the one window tinting work could easily cost up to one thousand. I am thinking to start another DIY around the house; which is to replace the window seals. They are old and cracked and I don’t think it could prevent the air from flowing in and out.

Time to save more money and learn some easy skill.
