A colleague of mine has been working from home a lot lately and I thought she looks a bit weak and sad. Initially I thought it was either she or her mom is sick but then today we got an email that her grandma has just passed away.

Another colleagues suggested to get some affordable sympathy gifts for her family or to give some money as the Chinese traditions.

Well, it is a bit sad as it is early of the new year; when one should have bright and hopeful year to look forward.

May she and her family take it well and have a better year ahead.

One of the tricks that my friend taught me for looking groomed without too much effort is by curling your eye lash. And it works beautifully for her of course as she has this long and thick eye lashes; to much envy of our friends. One will have thought that she uses those effective eye lash growth products as it is so long and curled.

And yes, she doesn’t need to put much make up on except a little powder and lipstick and she’s ready to go out!

Maybe I should go for eye  lashes extension myself. After all, eyes is the window of the soul?

It is only January and I am already getting 3 wedding invitation for this year of 2012. Two is in March and another one is in October; sweet st lucia weddings. Sometimes I just dread the thoughts of going yet another wedding as I’ve too much this year.

But I try to look at it as friends’ gathering; as it is so hard to gather with friends nowadays especially most are married and have kids or stay in different city/towns. It would be more fun this way; a date set and venue secured and you even get to dressed up.

Well, after a couple of years, there won’t be much wedding going on with my batch of friends. And I guess it will be quieter and less of meeting ups with old friends.

My friend is in a relationship for so long that she is thinking to get out of it. It has been 7 years since she’s dating with this boyfriend of hers. But according to her, the relationship has been on the same stage for so long that she is feeling a little bored. She wants to either  move forward or get out of it.

But her worries are if she get out of the relationship, could she meet someone that she could clicks as well? At this age, she doesn’t have much confidence although she is really a lovely girl. She even secretly tries out the Zyngle free online dating.

I hope whatever decision that she makes, she will not regret it.

Today is a special date, the wedding anniversary of my parents! I didn’t know the date that they got married till I asked my parents the other day. They could hardly remember already but gave me an estimated date.

They are married for about 33 years already! And all these years, they didn’t buy one another any wedding anniversary gifts. Well, I guess tradition was different back then and with the money always being tight when I was little, I guess it makes sense.

When I suggested them to have a little celebration, they look at me like I am crazy!

I am always not a lucky person when it comes to lucky draw or contest. Never had much winning chance in me since as long as I can remembered. Thus when we were having our company annual dinner, I didn’t even hold my breath when the lucky draw was going on.

And they announced the 3^rd price winner, 2^nd price winner and I was busy eating when the first prize winner was being announced. Alas, it wasn’t me! =P

2 of the lucky persons came from my department! I didn’t bother to find out what they got; maybe a Honeywell Barcode Scanner for all I care.

And of course, I was the one without dissapointment; with no expectation at all. A winner after all, eh?

 

With some really good friends leaving the company, I am a little tempted to find another job as well. But the thing is to adapt to another new environment and learning new products all over again; it is a risk as well. I’m already with a few type of products such as POS system and customer banking. Maybe I should find jobs in these areas.

However a part of me is unsure of leaving this company at this state of economy. Will I do well in the other company? Or will I be happier here? So many uncertainties..         

Today I wake up with uncomfortable throat and my nose is still runny. Oh, I felt a little worse than yesterday but not too sick to not report to work.
I need to take more care on myself and minimize the effect of cold. Here’s how :
· Isolate yourself from others so you won’t pass it on. Colds are very contagious. (that’s how I got my cold!)

· Drink extra liquids (water, tea, juices, or chicken soup) to avoid dehydration.

· Gargle with warm salt water to soothe your sore throat pain as this will shrink the mucous membranes in your throat and decrease the pain from inflammation.

· Take extra vitamin C, which may shorten the duration of your cold.

· Take hot showers to relieve nasal stuffiness. Steam will shrink the mucous membranes in your nose and throat and aid mucus drainage.

· Take an antihistamine to reduce sneezing and runny nose.

· Use a nasal-decongestant spray for 3 days or less to avoid the rebound effect, which may cause increased congestion later.

· Wash your hands frequently. This will prevent the spread of your cold to others.

· Use tissues instead of handkerchiefs to avoid spreading germs.

· Slow down a little. Rest when you get home from work or school.

· Get extra sleep. Your body needs more rest as it fights off the infection.  

I have procrastinating in getting new spectacles for almost a year. And finally when Adam when to the optician, I thought  I should get one too or I’ll never get it done in 5 years.

After a week, I finally when to collect my new glasses. To my horror, the new glasses creaked and squeaked when I opened the frames! The optician told me that it is meant to be like that. It is the sound of the frames and the lens rubbing against each other and it is suppose to be ok! He said if the frames and lens are too ‘tight’ together, the middle part will be crooked in long run. What kind of explanation is that and I’ve never heard it before.

I guess it is the Optician Jobs to convince you whenever the glasses are not up to the customer’s expectation. I can’t do anything now but to hope that these fragile glasses will not break easily. And of course, I’ll never go back to the shop again that makes lousy quality of glasses!

Last weekend , I was invited to my friend’s party at her new house. I’ve been to her house for only once for house warming but it was pretty empty then.

Now, she got a baby and being a doctor; I think that’s very lucky to be able to take care of your baby and understand her health or able to treat her when she’s sick. She even has some medical equipment at home though nothing too fancy.

And the party was quite fun with lots of foods and friends and some drinks. But with the baby around, we were not able to stay late or make too much noises. Quite a good party though.
